[Closed] Join OPEN’s Board of Directors!

Update: As of November 1, 2022, we have closed applications for the new board seats and are in the process of reviewing candidates. Thank you for your interest!

Help steer OPEN’s role in the movement to normalize and empower non-monogamy!

OPEN was launched in April of 2022 with a five-person Board of Directors (meet our board!), each with their own unique expertise and experience with non-monogamy. Our board have been some of the earliest and strongest champions for OPEN, helping our new organization establish its position within the broader movement for non-monogamy.

As OPEN grows and strives to deepen its impact, we seek to add two new members to the Board of Directors by the end of 2022. In particular, we hope to engage leaders who can bring more diversity of identity, geography, and experience to the team.

Who we’re looking for

Here are some of the criteria that we’ll consider when reviewing candidates for these two seats:

  • Does this person hold identities and expertise not currently or sufficiently represented on our board?

  • Does this person have nonprofit or other relevant organizational leadership experience?

  • Does this person have advocacy, activism, grassroots organizing, or other relevant social impact experience?

  • Is this person passionate about and experienced with non-monogamy and other intersecting movement and topics?

  • Does this person bring a personal and professional network or audience that aligns with OPEN’s work?

  • and most importantly… Does this person believe in and wish to actively support OPEN’s mission, theory of change, and programs?

What’s the commitment

OPEN’s current directors play different roles in the organization’s work. Some are more closely engaged, meeting bi-weekly with staff members to discuss projects and strategy. Others participate only in OPEN’s quarterly board meetings and provide asynchronous input via email. At minimum, Directors are asked to participate in a quarterly, 2-3 hour virtual meeting; however, the ideal person for this role will be interested in more actively engaging in OPEN’s work as an advisor, collaborator, networker, etc.

Process and timeline

  1. Interested in being considered as a candidate for the Board of Directors? Start by filling out this form, which should take about 20 minutes. Deadline October 31, 2022.

  2. Top candidates will be invited to participate in a ~30 minute phone conversation with members of OPEN’s leadership team, which will be scheduled during the month of November.

  3. Based on candidates’ written application and phone screening, OPEN’s leadership team will assess candidates’ qualifications against a rubric to eliminate implicit bias. OPEN’s current Board of Directors will make a final determination of the two individuals to invite to join the board, with a goal of completing this process by the end of 2022.
