Building protections for diverse family and relationship structures in Seattle
Take action that to ensure Seattle City Council passes protections for our community!
Our friends at Seattle Coalition for Family and Relationship Equity have been working tirelessly to pass “Family and Relationship Structure” in Seattle to protect all forms of non-monogamous relationship structures and chosen, blended, and multi-generational family structures.

Update 12/18: The Seattle Human Rights Commission and the LGBTQ Commission have issued a letter to the Mayor's Office and City Council urging the introduction and passage of a non-discrimination ordinance protecting family and relationship structure in the Seattle Municipal Code.
What?
In 1973, Seattle was one of the first cities in the US to protect individuals from discrimination based on their sexual orientation, and Seattle was the 6th city in the nation to recognize gender identity as a protected category of persons in 1986.
Seattle and King County continued to be national leaders in the fight for marriage equality as early as the 1980s and we are urging City Council and the Mayor's Office to continue that leadership by recognizing family and relationship structure in the city's human rights protections to affirm that love, family, and connection in all their forms are valued and supported.
