This Giving Tuesday marks a critical moment for relationship freedom. OPEN has achieved landmark victories in 2024, from passing non-discrimination protections to bringing together thousands of people for the global Week of Visibility for Non-monogamy. But with growing threats to our communities, we need your support to expand these vital protections and grow the power of our movement.
Thanks to a generous donor, all gifts will be matched through December 31!
Our Impact
Policy and Law
Passed 2 municipal non-discrimination ordinances in Berkeley and Oakland, CA.
Worked with employee groups at 6 Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, Dell, and AirBnB to create more inclusive workplaces.
Visibility and Awareness
Featured in 4 national media stories including USA Today, Slate, and Cosmopolitan.
Coordinated an expanded global Week of Visibility with 50 virtual and in-person events across 6 countries.
Collected 4,500 responses from 72 countries to our third annual Community Survey, a comprehensive census and needs assessment.
Movement and Community
Served 700+ attendees at our free, twice-monthly peer-support sessions.
Mobilized supporters to help defend community venues in Pittsburgh, PA and Acadia Parish, LA.
Launched a community Book Club featuring conversations with non-monogamous authors.
2025 Vision
2025 will be a year of both opportunity and challenge. While our movement has never been stronger, we're also facing unprecedented threats to diverse families and relationships. OPEN is building on our successful advocacy work while strengthening our community's capacity to protect and support each other during uncertain times.
Our Municipal Advocacy Initiative will expand vital protections to eight new cities, empowering local advocates with comprehensive toolkits and training. While continuing our workplace advocacy through key partnerships, we're focusing on building lasting protections at the local level where we can create immediate impact.
Beyond policy change, we're amplifying authentic voices through an expanded Week of Visibility and deeper media engagement. By partnering with academic institutions to strengthen our Community Survey research and developing a powerful storytelling program, we'll bring greater understanding of non-monogamous relationships to new audiences.
Most critically, we're investing in community resilience. From expanding our peer support circles to creating practical resources like our guide to housing for non-monogamous families and relationships, we're building networks of mutual support that can weather any challenges ahead. This work — creating strong local connections and empowered advocates — is essential as we face growing social and political threats.
Your support helps us maintain momentum on policy wins while building the strong, resilient communities we need. Together, we're not just advancing rights; we're creating lasting networks of support and power that will sustain our movement through any challenges ahead.
